Excelling in fine arts for the sake of ministry to the glory of God.
Our main task as a Christian is to glorify God. Music is one primary tool for accomplishing that goal. Our students have many different opportunities to make music through vocal choirs, handbell choirs, and private lessons. All of our elementary students participate in the elementary choir. Our 7th and 8th graders all participate in junior high music class where they learn music theory and apply that knowledge through singing and ringing in a handbell choir. For our 9th-12th graders, we offer the Ministry Team, a vocal group with a special emphasis on individual and choral ministry, both in our own ministry and as we travel to other churches and Christian schools. We also offer a handbell choir, which provides for an opportunity for advanced ringing and other unique ministry opportunities. Participation in the Ministry Team and Handbells is through an audition process.
EHCS offers speech class, and opportunities for participation in plays and school programs annually, giving our students the opportunity to learn to communicate more effectively.
Art instruction is offered in 1st – 12th grades. All students in elementary receive basic instruction in art with more advanced instruction offered as electives in the upper grades.
Each March, EHCS participates in the Bible Academic and Fine Arts (BAFA) regional competition held locally. All music groups (4th grade and up) participate in this competition. We also compete in Art, Speech, Preaching, Academic Testing, Spanish and many other areas. Regional winners (9th-12th) have the opportunity to represent EHCS at the AACS National Competition in Greenville, SC.
Our Fall 2015 Program Highlights in Pictures
Our Fall program this year featured a musical production by our Elementary aged children. It was called, The Mystery of the Lost Part of Speech. It’s a humorous adventure through the eight parts of speech. The children seemed to enjoy singing and performing as much as much or more as family and friends enjoyed watching. There were also feature performances by our Jr. High and High school Handbell Choir and our Senior High Ministry Team. We are thrilled by the diligent effort the students put into this wonderful evening of Fine Arts.
Highlights from the 2016 Mid-America Association of Christian Schools' Bible, Academic and Fine Arts Competition
For the history of our school, we have participated in the Bible, Academic and Fine Arts Competition. (BAFA) This competition helps our students showcase the talents and abilities God has given them as individuals. It helps them prepare to use those gifts and talents before others and under the pressure of competition which better prepares them for the pressures of life and ministry. BAFA also helps them build character and discipline as they strive through hard work and practice to perform at the best of their ability. Listen to the video on the left as Pastor Bob Franseen, Administrator of our school and President of the Missouri Association of Christian Schools describes the importance of these competitions. Winners of the regional competition go on the compete at the national level in Greenville, SC.
